Sr Principal Software Engineering - Enterprise Technology

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States; relocation provided. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $264,103–$369,743 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Own software strategy across multiple enterprise technology domains.
• Architect, design, and execute the technical roadmap with Principal Engineers and software development leaders.
• Advise customers on technical challenges and present complex strategies to senior leadership, including Senior Vice Presidents and potentially the CEO.
• Identify and implement AI applications that improve user experiences and software development efficiency.
• Establish AI engineering practices that enable production-scale software agents and promote CI/CD, modular architectures, testing, and scalable systems.
• Lead design reviews and operational excellence initiatives while mentoring software developers through the Principal level; the role has no direct reports.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience writing and deploying production software.
• 7+ years of experience developing distributed backend systems and using cloud services such as AWS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to make durable technical decisions, solve complex ambiguous problems, and identify organization-wide challenges independently.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to Vice President-level or more senior leadership.
• Experience mentoring software engineers, including Principal Engineers, and a strong passion for aerospace and hirify.global’s mission.

Nice to have

• Experience with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, test, flight software, or aerospace.
• Experience researching and incorporating modern AI/ML tools.
