TL;DR
Engineering Group - Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer (Automotive): Developing and releasing fuel-system components and subsystems for vehicle programs with an accent on design packaging, technical compliance, supplier execution, and cross-functional integration. Focus on leading product development teams, solving PRTS issues, coordinating validation and manufacturing interfaces, and optimizing product and process costs.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan; reporting to the Cole Engineering Center at least three times per week. Travel required up to 25%. This role is not eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead or support product development teams for fuel-system components and subsystems, including timing, parts lists, and DFMEA.
  • Develop, integrate, and release components and subsystems for vehicle assembly plants and pre-production builds.
  • Conduct design studies and alternative analyses based on performance, cost, mass, and timing.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with suppliers, purchasing, validation, manufacturing, safety, electrical, thermal, and other functions.
  • Lead problem-solving for PRTS issues, technical and peer reviews, warranty-related investigations, and cost-optimization changes.
  • Ensure compliance with CTS, SSTS, and VTS requirements, design best practices, and communicate lessons learned across subsystem leadership teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to report to the Warren, Michigan engineering center at least three times per week.
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • DFSS Black Belt certification or interest in obtaining certification.
  • Experience with GM tools and processes such as ECM, PRTS, Teamcenter/VAS, VIS Mockup, UGNX, or CAE.
  • Project management, leadership, manufacturing, validation, or GM Quality Chain experience.
  • Experience with fuel-system components or other safety-related commodities.
