Senior Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: San Diego, CA; flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. Employment is hybrid, with remote work available within the U.S. U.S. citizenship is required to access systems supporting a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contract.

Compensation: $150,000–$175,000 per year, with the range tied to location, level, and scope.

What you will do

• Design, automate, and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS.
• Build secure, reliable, scalable paths for software and systems to reach production.
• Own developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, templates, guardrails, and golden paths.
• Improve observability, monitoring, on-call ergonomics, and mean time to recovery using Datadog.
• Implement secure-by-default workflows covering secrets management, IAM, network security, vulnerability scanning, and container security.
• Establish infrastructure, reliability, platform, security, and compliance practices for a growing engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with GCP, AWS, Terraform, Terragrunt, Cloud Run, Fargate, and managed Kubernetes.
• Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, guardrails, and golden paths.
• Experience with cloud security, IAM, container security, network architecture, and modern observability.
• Experience and enthusiasm for AI-driven development; backend coding experience primarily with TypeScript.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to systems supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contract.

• Experience in a fast-growing startup.

• Exposure to SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, or HITRUST compliance frameworks.
