Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based in San Francisco; in-person work at the office three days per week

Salary: $200K–$275K plus equity

What you will do

• Own availability, disaster recovery, backups, multi-region failover, and recovery exercises for an enterprise healthcare platform.
• Establish production monitoring, alerting, SLOs, on-call rotation, and incident response processes.
• Build cloud security and compliance controls for SOC 2 and HIPAA, including AWS guardrails, IAM, KMS, vulnerability remediation, and audit evidence automation.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/IaC foundations, preview environments, and test infrastructure.
• Create policy-as-code, deployment verification, and operations tooling that enables AI coding agents to ship safely.
• Set the strategy, priorities, and operating rhythm for the platform function.

Requirements

• Deep experience owning production AWS infrastructure, including IAM, networking, KMS, containers, and managed databases.
• Strong Terraform/IaC and CI/CD expertise, with experience treating pipelines and environments as products.
• Hands-on experience taking a company through a SOC 2, HITRUST, or ISO 27001 audit cycle.
• Strong SRE fundamentals covering SLOs, incident management, and disaster recovery.
• Previous experience as a tech lead or engineering manager, including delegating work to engineers or AI agents and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.
• Must work from the San Francisco office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience with HIPAA fluency.
• Policy-as-code or compliance automation experience with OPA, Kyverno, Vanta, or Drata.
• Experience as a first infrastructure hire or in founding or leading a platform team.
• Experience building internal tooling or infrastructure for LLM and agent systems.
