Design Release Engineer - Electrical Accessories (Automotive)

What you will do

• Lead the development and release of electrical accessory integration points, including wiring harnesses, control modules, lighting, and related components.
• Define electrical accessory requirements and develop compatible vehicle designs using CAD software.
• Collaborate with electrical hardware, systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, purchasing, and accessory teams.
• Develop robust, cost-effective connection points and support production issue resolution.
• Apply LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout development and launch activities.
• Travel up to 50% and perform activities requiring standing, walking, repetitive tasks, and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent ABET-accredited qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in automotive electrical design and release.
• Hands-on experience with open-loop and closed-loop control systems, sensors, actuators, body controllers, and ECUs.
• Experience with low-voltage and high-voltage components, including relays, wiring, DCDC converters, motors, inverters, batteries, and onboard chargers.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols, as well as 8D, Five Whys, and Fishbone problem-solving methods.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with FMVSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, and other automotive regulatory standards.
