Senior Wiring Release Engineer (Electric Vehicle): Developing electrical systems and wiring harnesses for Slate battery-electric vehicles with an accent on high- and low-voltage components, supplier leadership, and vehicle-level integration. Focus on defining harness interfaces, debugging prototype and pre-production vehicles, creating DFMEA and DVP&R documentation, and resolving complex electrical system issues.

Location: Troy, Michigan, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual base pay: $108,877–$163,316.

What you will do

  • Develop electrical system requirements and wiring harness solutions for Slate battery-electric vehicles.
  • Manage Tier 1 suppliers for harnesses and jumpers and coordinate interface information with electrical module owners and other engineering groups.
  • Lead or participate in vehicle-level technical design reviews across vehicle subsystems and suppliers.
  • Define connector selections, circuit definitions, wire sizing, and system-load requirements.
  • Track and escalate open issues, align system-design timing with program timing, and drive issue resolution.
  • Develop DFMEA, DVP&R, wiring-harness test plans, and support electrical testing, rework, and debugging on prototype and pre-production vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or an equivalent ABET-accredited program is preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with hands-on, detail-oriented engineering work.
  • Experience with low-voltage components and high-voltage systems, including DCDC converters, motors and inverters, batteries, and onboard chargers.
  • Experience with harness development tools such as Capital and Zuken.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, LVDS, and A2B physical topology requirements.
  • Experience with 8D, Five Whys, fishbone analysis, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and applicable FMVSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, and NEC standards.
