Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in London, England, United Kingdom, with office attendance of approximately 2 days per quarter and quarterly in-person collaboration days. Employees are on London-based contracts.

What you will do

• Design and implement complex distributed systems across the banking backend.
• Build scalable, reliable, maintainable, and performant production software.
• Develop and deploy JVM-based microservices through all stages of the development lifecycle.
• Design and build RESTful APIs, event-driven services, and cloud-based solutions.
• Assess technical trade-offs and deliver optimal solutions while driving operational excellence and system availability.
• Collaborate beyond the immediate team in a fast-paced Agile and Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Solid Java software development skills, ideally with Java 21 or higher and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Test-driven development mindset with experience writing unit, integration, and functional tests for web services.
• Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and event-streaming technologies.
• Experience with SQL databases and strong PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Interest in CI/CD and experience with build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
• Interest in development lifecycle processes, best practices, and operating distributed cloud-based microservices.
• Experience building and deploying production-level microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, including JVM-based microservices running in Kubernetes.
• Proven experience building cloud-based solutions using AWS.
• Excellent communication skills, a solid work ethic, and a strong desire to write production-quality code.
• Experience delivering software in an Agile manner as part of a Scrum team, with the ability to write high-quality, clean, reliable, maintainable, and performant code.
• Ability to assess technical trade-offs and deliverables needed to create optimal solutions.
