Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid with 3–4 days per week in-office.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems.
• Build REST APIs and engineer microservices through greenfield development and improvements to existing systems.
• Evolve systems supporting card payments, treasury management, transaction booking, and crypto liquidity.
• Develop business logic with a focus on clean code, maintainability, and fast delivery.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to build financial products and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Demonstrable backend development experience with fluency in Java.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another engineering or science discipline.
• Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to learn quickly, with an ambitious and results-driven approach.
• Track record of building complex products used by millions of people in hypergrowth startups.
• Experience with Java, PostgreSQL, and Spring Boot.
• Experience or working knowledge of TDD, DDD, and continuous integration and delivery.
