Software Development Engineer III (Java)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent collaborating at office locations or local sites and the rest remotely.

What you will do

• Build and operate highly scalable solutions for securing and managing customer data, including profiles, contact details, preferences, and consent settings.
• Deliver high-quality Java software and implement end-to-end features using robust, scalable, and efficient solutions.
• Work with Microsoft Azure and Terraform for infrastructure as code, and implement CI/CD practices for seamless software delivery.
• Apply architectural standards, security-first practices, and tools such as Snyk and Apiiro for vulnerability management and secure coding.
• Own systems and drive reliability, maintainability, performance, documentation, and workflow automation.
• Provide technical leadership for medium to large features, support and mentor engineers, and lead projects from a technical or project perspective.

Requirements

• Solid experience delivering Java or other JVM-language software.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut; familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms including Azure or AWS and infrastructure automation with Terraform.
• Good understanding of SQL, including PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB or CouchDB.
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, xMatters, or New Relic.
• Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban, and version control with GitHub.
• Experience in system design and in taking ownership of a project and leading a team from a technical or project perspective.
• Good English communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• Experience with Zendesk and JIRA.
