Network Design Engineer Lead

Location: On-site in Hanover, MD; McLean, VA; or Fort Belvoir, VA. Travel of up to 30% is required for CONUS deployments.

Salary: $150,000–$165,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop engineering assessments and review network work products for technical correctness, design alignment, customer standards, and schedule progress.
• Coordinate with project and program managers to resolve problems, support user satisfaction, and align network architecture and design decisions with the Lead Engineer.
• Recommend major system installations and prepare milestone status reports, technical deliveries, and system concept presentations.
• Develop network upgrade designs, configurations, cutover plans, staging and pre-configuration activities, system testing, and related documentation.
• Prepare site-specific reports and drawings for Government review and approval while following U.S. Army engineering processes.
• Mentor technicians and contribute to technical site surveys for NIPR, SIPR, Wi-Fi, VoIP, and ISP/OSP infrastructure.

Requirements

• Active Secret Clearance or higher is required before starting.
• BA/BS in a technical discipline and at least 10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Cisco CCNA certification or a higher-level Cisco certification.
• Experience designing and configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, including spanning tree, software-defined networking, VLANs, VNIs, VXLANs, VRFs, hostnames, and Cisco OEM equipment.
• Strong communication, collaboration, technical leadership, documentation, and schedule-management skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces such as server closets and raised floors.

Nice to have

• Cisco CCNP or CCDP certification.
• Experience with Passive Optical Networking, Juniper equipment, network management, Cisco Prime, IT PIE US, or Army network design standards.
