Backend Engineer (AI Finance Agent)

What you will do

• Build core backend systems for hirify.global's AI Finance Agent.
• Develop APIs and workflows connecting with multiple insurance providers and requesting quotes concurrently.
• Design fair quote comparison and ranking systems for customers.
• Build customer databases and secure audit trails for sensitive financial data.
• Set up cloud hosting, CI/CD pipelines, observability, encryption, secrets management, and access controls.

Requirements

• Strong backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript, or a closely related stack with the ability to work in it.
• Experience designing schemas for relational or non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and handling timeouts, retries, and partial failures.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with sensitive customer data and applying security best practices.
• Must already be based in the UK; strong English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, insurtech, or another regulated industry.
• Experience building plugin or adapter systems for multiple external integrations.
• Experience with Redis or a similar session and cache management system.
