What you will do

• Design, develop, and ship high-quality technical solutions for the Blackbird search engine to scale across multiple hirify.global services.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to support team growth and maintainable code.
• Own the health and operational excellence of systems, including participating in on-call rotations and live incidents.
• Write architecture briefs and proposals to drive the technical roadmap and conduct code experiments.
• Implement APIs to facilitate seamless integration between various software components.
• Utilize debugging tools and telemetry to optimize code performance and resolve proactive issues.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United Kingdom.
• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline (adjusted based on degree level).
• Proven experience maintaining and delivering production software in languages such as Rust, Go, Java, Python, C++, or C#.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and search at scale.
• Ability to work autonomously, learn quickly, and set technical direction for complex projects.

Nice to have

• Experience building or operating web-scale search, information retrieval, or context retrieval systems.
• Expertise with systems programming languages, ideally Rust.
• Experience designing or integrating AI/ML-powered features into production systems.
