Global Commodity Manager (Optics)

Location: Remote in Canada

Annual pay range: $97,300–$155,300 CAD

What you will do

• Develop and implement commodity strategies for optical products and suppliers across technology, quality, supply, and cost objectives.
• Monitor optical component markets, technology developments, product costs, supply conditions, and supplier landscapes.
• Align commodity strategies with internal stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives with R&D, PLM, and Quality.
• Lead supplier negotiations to optimize total cost of ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
• Resolve critical supply shortages with suppliers and EMS partners to maintain supply continuity.
• Build supplier relationships, conduct recurring business reviews, and identify and mitigate supply-chain risks.

Requirements

• Engineering and/or Business degree.
• 10+ years of experience in optical procurement and 5+ years of commodity management and/or procurement experience.
• Knowledge of optical technologies, industry trends, and supplier ecosystems.
• Experience with lasers, optical receivers, modulators, passive optical components, and transceivers.
• Background in optics manufacturing processes, including fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams on commodity initiatives.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of optical components such as line cards, WSS and ROADMs, gain blocks, and laser pumps.
• Experience defining supply strategies, resolving shortages, and optimizing supplier relationships.
• Experience negotiating legal agreements with suppliers.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and willingness to travel as required.
