Sr Electronics R/D Engineer

Location: Galway, County Galway, Ireland; regular laboratory and production-area work is required.

Salary: €64,640–€96,960 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Assemble, inspect, modify, and rework prototype PCBAs with fine-pitch SMD and through-hole components.
• Build and modify wire assemblies, cable harnesses, connectors, interface boards, adapters, and electronic test fixtures.
• Prepare prototypes for testing, support hardware bring-up, perform electrical characterization, and investigate board-level failures.
• Operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers, electronic loads, and data-acquisition systems.
• Execute test procedures, record measurements, support automated testing with Python or LabVIEW, and report results.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and production equipment, coordinate calibration, and implement corrective actions with Engineering and Production teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with typically 4 or more years of relevant product-development experience.
• Hands-on experience with fine-pitch PCBA assembly, precision soldering, inspection, component replacement, modification, and repair.
• Experience building wire assemblies, cables, connectors, interface boards, and electronic test fixtures.
• Ability to interpret schematics, PCB assembly drawings, wiring and mechanical diagrams, bills of materials, manuals, and test procedures.
• Practical experience with laboratory equipment, prototype bring-up, hardware testing, fault reproduction, electro-mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
• Knowledge of ESD controls, electronic workmanship, calibrated-equipment control, 6S, laboratory safety, CE-marked equipment procedures, and traceable documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience in electronics R&D, product development, engineering laboratories, manufacturing, or independent testing facilities.
• Experience with PCB CAD tools, automated test equipment, instrument-control software, data-acquisition systems, calibration, or maintenance systems.
• Medical-device experience and familiarity with IEC 60601, regulated quality systems, controlled documentation, and traceable test records.
