Design & Manufacturing Development Engineer (Composites)

Location: Noordwijk, Netherlands, with additional client locations in Galway, Ireland and Rome, Italy. Willingness to travel for work is required.

hirify.global develops aerospace engineering solutions through its internal CompositesLab business unit, specialising in CFRP lattice and grid-stiffened structures for space applications.

What you will do

• Perform top-level design and systems engineering for composite technologies and products.
• Create CAD models and designs, including design-for-manufacturing activities.
• Develop manufacturing, assembly, integration, inspection, and repair processes for composite lattice structures and large spacecraft components.
• Carry out finite element modelling, analysis, optimisation, and support the development of related procedures.
• Support component manufacturing and testing, research activities, technical reporting, and documentation.
• Develop supply-chain relationships, support quality assurance, prepare business proposals, and interface with customers and external suppliers.

Requirements

• MSc degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with fibre-reinforced composite materials and structures, including composite and metal manufacturing methods.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably CATIA V5, and knowledge of tooling design methods.
• Basic programming skills, preferably in Python.
• Fluent English is required; applications must be submitted in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with MAIT processes for large composite structures.
• Experience with finite element model setup and analysis, preferably for composites.
• Experience with ECSS or other standards and requirements.
• Additional language skills.
