Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Terraform)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design and maintain modular, composable Terraform code across cloud accounts, environments, and providers.
• Build reusable Terraform modules with clean interfaces, semantic versioning, testing, and documentation.
• Implement infrastructure automation pipelines with plan/apply gating, drift detection, and policy enforcement.
• Manage Terraform state, backends, workspaces, disaster recovery, and multi-account or multi-region provisioning strategies.
• Embed secrets management, identity federation, least-privilege IAM, security guardrails, cost optimization, and tagging standards into reusable infrastructure patterns.
• Lead migrations from legacy or ClickOps infrastructure to Terraform, mentor engineering teams, and maintain runbooks and architecture documentation.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, EAD holder, or H-1B transfer candidate; new H-1B petitions cannot be sponsored.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 or more years of cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineering experience with significant Terraform expertise.
• Hands-on experience with production Terraform, reusable modules, state management, backends, and large-scale workspace organization.
• Experience with CI/CD for infrastructure code, automated policy enforcement, cloud networking, identity, security, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash, with excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities.

Nice to have

• Multi-cloud Terraform experience with AWS and Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with Terragrunt, Atlantis, Spacelift, or env0.
• Experience with Sentinel, OPA, or Checkov and contributions to public Terraform modules or providers.
• Exposure to FinOps and tagging-driven cost governance.
