Staff Software Engineer - Infrastructure Automation (Fintech)

Location: Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York; hybrid work model. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $145,000–$186,000 per year in Phoenix, AZ or Chicago, IL, plus discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, version, and operate shared Terraform modules, Ansible capabilities, and infrastructure automation tooling.
• Drive Terraform adoption across AWS, other cloud environments, and on-premises infrastructure, including registry, state, workspace, policy, drift, and plan/apply governance.
• Develop policy-as-code, configuration-as-code, network automation, compliance checks, rollback workflows, and Kubernetes admission controls.
• Implement secure authentication, OIDC federation, short-lived IAM roles, dynamic secrets, protected infrastructure state, and controlled exception processes.
• Partner with Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Security, Risk, Compliance, Network Engineering, CI/CD, AIOps, and observability teams.
• Improve developer self-service, technical standards, documentation, APIs, compliance visibility, and infrastructure reliability metrics while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Typically eight or more years of experience in software, cloud, platform, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
• Strong production programming experience in Python, Go, or a comparable general-purpose language.
• Hands-on Terraform experience covering reusable modules, automated testing, registry publishing, versioning, state management, and infrastructure change workflows.
• Experience with advanced Ansible capabilities, including reusable roles or collections, execution environments, testing, linting, or Ansible Automation Platform/AWX.
• Experience with OPA/Rego or comparable policy-as-code technologies, AWS infrastructure and security, Kubernetes, and containerized infrastructure.
• Experience implementing security, compliance, or change-management controls in a regulated or similarly controlled environment; background and drug screen required.

Nice to have

• Experience with HCP Terraform or Terraform Enterprise, internal developer platforms, self-service tooling, or developer portals.
• Experience automating network infrastructure and implementing federated identity, OIDC authentication, dynamic secrets, or short-lived credentials.
• Experience building internal engineering tools with React, Next.js, Angular, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Experience with PCI DSS, SOX ITGC, NYDFS Part 500, FFIEC, FinTech, banking, payments, or relevant technical certifications.
