Principal Software Engineer - Infrastructure Automation (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, or Phoenix, United States. Candidates must independently possess eligibility to work in the United States for any employer. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Base pay: $173,000–$230,000 USD per year for Phoenix, AZ or Chicago, IL, plus eligibility for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the enterprise architecture, strategy, standards, and operating model for infrastructure automation.
• Own Terraform provisioning across cloud and on-premises environments, including modules, registries, state governance, testing, releases, and adoption.
• Lead the Ansible platform architecture, including collections, execution environments, Molecule testing, linting, and automation platform operations.
• Design policy-as-code capabilities with OPA/Rego for Terraform plans, Ansible constraints, and Kubernetes admission controls.
• Build secure automation controls for identity, dynamic secrets, segregation of duties, protected state, change review, audit evidence, and regulatory compliance.
• Architect self-service platform capabilities, APIs, compliance dashboards, and network configuration automation while mentoring engineers and partnering across platform, security, network, and observability teams.

Requirements

• Typically 10 or more years of experience in software, platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering, including enterprise-scale technical architecture.
• Strong production programming experience in Python or Go, building tools, controllers, services, APIs, or custom scanners.
• Deep enterprise Terraform and Ansible experience, including testing, registries, release management, state governance, execution environments, and operations.
• Fluency with OPA/Rego or a comparable policy language, plus deep AWS knowledge covering IAM, federated identity, short-lived credentials, networking, encryption, and secure configuration.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and experience embedding security, regulatory, and change-management controls into automated infrastructure workflows.
• Eligibility to work in the United States for any employer is required; visa sponsorship is unavailable. Background check and drug screen required.

Nice to have

• Experience with HCP Terraform or Terraform Enterprise, internal developer platforms, infrastructure self-service products, or platform APIs.
• Experience with React, Next.js, Angular, TypeScript, network automation, dynamic secrets, or OIDC-based workload identity.
• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or another highly regulated industry.
• Advanced AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, security, or related technical certification.
