Senior Manager, Staff Counsel - Maryland

Location: Hybrid position based at either the Bethesda, Maryland or Baltimore, Maryland site

Annual salary: $148,625–$260,350

What you will do

• Manage staff counsel office activities and supervise attorneys and support staff handling liability, property damage, UM/UIM, and subrogation litigation.
• Represent hirify.global insureds and hirify.global in lawsuits filed in courts of limited and unlimited jurisdiction.
• Research applicable law and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Render opinions on liability, damages, and case value for the Claims Department.
• Train and supervise less experienced attorneys, support trial work, and monitor bar and CLE requirements.
• Review office performance reports and implement improvements to timeliness, productivity, file quality, and litigation outcomes.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions and maintain all licensing and CLE requirements.
• At least 10 years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
• Management experience leading a team of attorneys and support staff.
• Demonstrated primary trial responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity.
• Ability to travel for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
