What you will do

• Design solutions for complex features and write design documentation that other engineers can build from.
• Own the technical quality bar through code review, pairing, and setting strong engineering examples.
• Identify and address gaps in testing, security, and performance; improve architecture and standards.
• Lead delivery of large features, turning unclear requirements into concrete engineering work.
• Improve service observability and help prevent scaling, reliability, and operability issues before incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring, technical interviews, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Java expertise (preferably Java 25+) with solid Spring Boot experience.
• Strong relational database skills, ideally PostgreSQL (schema design and migrations).
• Proven experience designing and delivering complex features with documentation others can implement.
• Experience maintaining quality through code review, pairing, and mentoring more junior engineers.
• Practical observability experience (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and secure, up-to-date code practices (dependency upgrades, vulnerability scanning).
• Comfort with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) and understanding of performance and scalability.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude) in day-to-day development.
• Experience building software in a financial environment.
• Exposure to AWS (hosting, scaling, and cost trade-offs) and familiarity with React and TypeScript.
• Experience with identity and storage tools such as Keycloak and AWS S3.
