Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy (Hybrid, Seattle)

Location: Hybrid role based in Seattle, Washington

Salary: $141,500–$233,500 annual

What you will do

• Advise stakeholders on U.S. state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA, consent mechanisms, opt-out frameworks, privacy notices, and data subject rights.
• Lead and maintain the U.S. privacy compliance program and monitor legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments.
• Develop and implement AI governance policies, vendor AI due diligence processes, and internal standards for responsible AI deployment.
• Advise on privacy, legal, and regulatory risks related to personalization, pricing, fraud detection, hiring tools, machine learning, and generative AI.
• Provide legal support for data security programs, vendor contracts, data processing agreements, incidents, and breach notifications.
• Draft and negotiate privacy and data-related contract provisions, deliver training, and represent Legal on data governance committees.

Requirements

• J.D. and an active license to practice law in Washington State.
• 7–10 years of legal experience focused meaningfully on U.S. privacy law, including experience advising large, complex organizations.
• Experience with CAN-SPAM, TCPA, behavioral advertising, GLBA, HIPAA, PIPEDA, CCPA/CPRA, and comprehensive U.S. state privacy laws.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and regulations, including automated decision-making laws, the EU AI Act, and FTC guidance.
• Experience advising on data security incidents and breach notification obligations.
• CIPP/US certification, strong drafting skills, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance.

Nice to have

• IAPP AI Governance Professional certification or equivalent.
• In-house experience at a retailer, e-commerce company, or consumer-facing enterprise.
• Experience with adtech, loyalty programs, consumer data monetization, AI vendor due diligence, or AI-specific contract provisions.
• Exposure to FTC enforcement actions, state attorney general investigations, or privacy litigation.
