Principal Software Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and deliver distributed, high-scale systems for production environments.
• Lead architectural decision-making across enterprise-scale platforms.
• Drive cross-team technical initiatives across multiple business units.
• Apply data modeling, system optimization, and performance tuning practices.
• Advance reliability engineering and distributed architecture capabilities.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to engineering culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience; the position also lists 6+ years of experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, C++, or similar backend languages.
• Proven experience designing distributed systems and leading enterprise-scale technical initiatives.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, reliability engineering, system optimization, and performance tuning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Public technical contributions, including papers, talks, or open-source leadership.
• Experience driving multi-year transformation programs.
• Familiarity with FinOps and large-scale cost optimization.
• Exposure to regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or government.
• Advanced degree or equivalent industry recognition.
