Principal Software Engineer (Distributed Systems): Building and evolving large-scale cloud data platforms and high-throughput distributed services with an accent on scalable architecture, data pipelines, API design, and data integrity. Focus on leading cross-team architecture, solving concurrency and reliability challenges, and designing event-driven systems for production-scale workloads.
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, USA; hybrid work mode
Salary: $139,000–$249,260 annual base salary for U.S.-based roles; offers may exceed this range and may include bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do
- Set technical direction for core platform subsystems and align architecture across teams and codebases.
- Translate complex product and partner requirements into scalable platform capabilities and document architectural tradeoffs.
- Design and review distributed services, data models, asynchronous systems, and workflow-based platforms with attention to correctness, concurrency, and data integrity.
- Lead cross-team initiatives addressing reliability, performance, developer productivity, capacity planning, and incident response.
- Establish engineering standards and mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and architecture deep dives.
- Partner with product, architecture, engineering, DevOps, Support, and senior leadership on platform strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including designing and operating distributed backend systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in a modern backend language and experience building libraries or frameworks for other engineering teams.
- Experience with a major public cloud platform, including serverless compute, NoSQL storage, object storage, and event-driven integration.
- Expertise in API design and implementation, including schema validation, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Experience designing data models, configuration-driven system behavior, and architecture across multiple teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with ETL or data pipeline platforms and large-scale data management.
- Experience with plugin or connector frameworks for heterogeneous data sources.
- Background in developer experience, platform tooling, regulated or multi-region environments.
- Exposure to AI/ML-driven workflows, including embeddings, search relevance, or data enrichment.
