Cloud Data Architect

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Define and lead the architecture of an enterprise data platform spanning ingestion, storage, processing, governance, and consumption layers.
• Set standards for data modeling, data infrastructure, and lifecycle management.
• Design scalable lakehouse architectures, modern table-format implementations, and streaming systems.
• Partner with data engineering, analytics, ML, and business stakeholders to deliver a coherent data foundation.
• Lead large, cross-team data-platform initiatives and establish architectural direction.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, including significant experience in architecture roles.
• Deep expertise in at least two major data platforms, such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Production-scale experience with Spark, Flink, or Kafka.
• Strong data modeling knowledge across dimensional, normalized, and data-vault patterns.
• Experience implementing data governance, lineage, and catalog capabilities, plus knowledge of cloud platforms, networking, identity, and cost optimization.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; eligible applicants include U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates.

Nice to have

• Experience with data mesh or data product architectures.
• Familiarity with semantic layers such as dbt Semantic Layer, Cube, or LookML.
• Experience with regulated industries and strict data residency or audit requirements.
• Cloud or platform certifications, public talks, or writing on data architecture.
