Data Architect (Azure)

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; hybrid with 3 days in office and 2 days working from home

Salary: $131,200–$258,500 annually for Zone A; additional U.S. ranges are $120,300–$237,000 for Zone B and $109,400–$215,500 for Zone C. The role is also eligible for incentive plans.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise data architecture standards, reference architectures, solution patterns, and governance guardrails.
• Design and govern Azure-based data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Databricks, Power BI, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, and ADLS.
• Develop conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, canonical, and semantic data models, including reusable enterprise data entities and semantic layers.
• Build data foundations for analytics, machine learning, AI, reporting, and operational use cases.
• Partner with business units, product teams, engineering teams, vendors, consultants, and managed service providers on architecture, implementation, and operational support.
• Guide CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Architecture as Code, Policy as Code, prototyping, automation, documentation, monitoring, and handoff practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, analytics architecture, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms and leading architecture transformation initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of data architecture, data products, data mesh, domain-driven design, governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, master data, security, and semantic layers.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, ADLS, and Power BI, plus advanced Python, SQL, automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and Git-based development.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS or GCP, AI-ready data platforms, self-service analytics ecosystems, and enterprise semantic layers.
• Azure, Databricks, or Fabric certifications.
• Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, supply chain, or other large-scale enterprise environments.
