Enterprise Data Architect (Databricks)

Location: London with flexible hybrid working. Ability to work abroad for up to 3 weeks per year.

What you will do

• Define and maintain enterprise data architecture, target-state designs, roadmaps, standards, and patterns.
• Own the Databricks Lakehouse architecture, including workspace design, Unity Catalog, medallion architecture, and environment strategy.
• Design secure and scalable data-sharing integrations with external clients and third parties using Delta Sharing, APIs, event streaming, and managed file transfer.
• Lead Master Data Management design, including entity definitions, golden records, match-and-merge rules, stewardship, and reference data management.
• Establish data modelling, governance, quality, lineage, cataloguing, classification, access-control, security, privacy, and regulatory practices.
• Enable AI and ML use cases through discoverable, governed, AI-ready data, including feature engineering, model pipelines, vector search, and safe enterprise-data access.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on proficiency with Databricks, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, workflows, and platform administration.
• Experience with Databricks Delta Sharing and secure external data-integration patterns.
• Strong experience designing and implementing Master Data Management solutions and enterprise data models.
• Expertise in Databricks performance and cost optimisation, plus solid Azure storage, networking, and identity knowledge.
• Experience with data governance, Microsoft Purview or similar tools, data quality, metadata, and lineage.
• Strong SQL and working knowledge of Python and/or Spark, with understanding of encryption, RBAC/ABAC, masking, GDPR, and other privacy requirements.
