Principal Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Set technical direction for a 150+ engineer organization, including agentic development practices.
• Architect and develop complex systems that meet service-level agreements, key performance indicators, and engineering standards.
• Design and evolve event-driven, microservices-based architectures using streaming platforms such as Kafka for real-time inventory visibility, movement, and traceability.
• Guide multiple engineering teams, influence technology and business leaders, and recommend solutions with clear trade-offs.
• Diagnose performance and security issues, improve operational recovery, and apply secure development practices.
• Build proofs of concept, solve complex engineering problems directly, and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• High proficiency in Java and Python, with extensive AWS and/or GCP experience.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems and experience with generative AI for automation and engineering productivity.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD tools such as GitLab, containerization, telemetry, and improving time to recovery.
• Strong experience designing secure, scalable architectures and mentoring and coaching engineers.

Nice to have

• AWS Bedrock AgentCore experience.
• Supply chain or complex ecommerce domain experience.
• Experience with inventory management, warehouse management systems, or RFID-based tracking.
• Contributions to open-source or community projects.
