Acquisition Program Engineer – System Safety (Aerospace): Supporting Air Force hypersonic and armament programs through system safety engineering, acquisition planning, requirements analysis, testing, and sustainment with an accent on munitions safety, systems engineering, and lifecycle technical documentation. Focus on analyzing hazards and design trade-offs, validating weapon system performance, managing technical baselines and risks, and supporting reviews across the acquisition lifecycle.

Location: On-site at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, United States

What you will do

  • Define system safety program requirements and ensure the planning and execution of safety activities across the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Analyze electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical armament, guidance, control, fuzing, and release systems.
  • Participate in testing, flight activities, operational readiness reviews, system safety analyses, and safety-significant configuration control.
  • Support requirements definition, architecture, integration, verification and validation, risk management, configuration management, and technical documentation.
  • Plan and execute technical reviews, audits, assessments, interchange meetings, and milestone documentation.
  • Provide engineering analysis and recommendations for weapon systems, munitions, simulators, training equipment, production readiness, and sustainment.

Requirements

  • Top-Secret security clearance required.
  • PhD and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and at least 15 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and at least 20 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of DoD munitions safety regulations and processes, including USAF and USN safety board approvals and certifications, MIL-STD-1316, and AFI 63-104.
  • Experience with acquisition documentation such as Systems Engineering Plans, System Safety Analyses, Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluations, and Life Cycle Sustainment Plans.
  • Engineering degrees must be from an ABET-accredited college of engineering; engineering technology degrees do not qualify.
