Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; onsite

Salary: $7,309.00–$7,798.00 CAD monthly

hirify.global is a university supporting teaching, research, innovation, and learning through its Faculty of Applied Science and Department of Mining Engineering.

What you will do

  • Maintain the day-to-day readiness, access, and operation of teaching laboratories, research laboratories, pilot-scale facilities, workshops, preparation areas, and storage spaces.
  • Operate, inspect, service, troubleshoot, install, calibrate, and commission specialized laboratory, workshop, and pilot-scale equipment and technical systems.
  • Plan preventive maintenance, inspection, and calibration schedules and coordinate service requests with hirify.global service units, vendors, contractors, and specialists.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, technical arrangements, and hands-on support for teaching activities, research projects, equipment trials, and laboratory exercises.
  • Design or modify limited fixtures, sample holders, guards, adapters, instrumentation, controls, and data acquisition arrangements for specialized applications.
  • Assign daily work, prepare schedules, coach two technicians and one millwright, and coordinate technical staff, students, contractors, and service providers.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a technical college or institute, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship, plus at least five years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and adapt specialized laboratory or process equipment and associated technical systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, specifications, and prepare sketches, procedures, reports, and equipment documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, machining, welding, or fabrication methods.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and workshop safety, hazard assessment, lockout, WHMIS, WorkSafeBC, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities, exercise independent judgment, communicate effectively, and provide technical direction and instruction.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting teaching, research, pilot-scale, or industrial laboratories and workshops.
  • Experience advising laboratory users and demonstrating specialized equipment to staff and students.
