Manager, Cloud Platform Engineering (Azure)

What you will do

• Lead the Cloud Platform Engineering function responsible for Azure infrastructure, identity, governance, reliability, security, and cost.
• Manage, mentor, hire, and develop cloud and platform engineers while maintaining hands-on technical involvement.
• Set the platform strategy and roadmap, treating the internal developer platform as a product with adoption goals, feedback loops, documentation, and success metrics.
• Build self-service capabilities, golden paths, reusable Terraform modules, templates, and guardrails for application, data, and infrastructure teams.
• Establish reliability, observability, incident response, disaster recovery, and FinOps practices for platform-owned services.
• Partner with network, security, application, data, and operational technology teams on architecture, hybrid connectivity, governance, and M&A integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering, including deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise environments.
• At least 4 years of experience leading and developing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and senior talent development.
• Strong hands-on and architectural experience with Azure, Terraform, Microsoft Entra ID, governance, landing zones, cloud security, and shared platform services.
• Experience with self-service platform capabilities, CI/CD automation, reliability practices, cloud networking, FinOps, and operational scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ownership, urgency, and sound judgment in an environment supporting enterprise and field operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with hybrid enterprise environments involving on-premises infrastructure, Azure, and operational technology.
• Background in oil and gas, energy, utilities, industrial, regulated, or multi-site operating environments.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Azure Kubernetes Service, DORA metrics, or FinOps tooling.
• Experience integrating acquired cloud environments and standardizing inherited infrastructure after M&A activity.
• Relevant Azure, Terraform, or FinOps certifications.
