Manager, Cloud Engineering (Developer Experience)

Location: Miami, Florida; in-person office role with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote per week.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of Developer Experience engineers while setting technical standards and operating practices.
• Own the roadmap, adoption strategy, and governance for the internal developer platform built on Spotify Portal and Backstage.
• Oversee GitHub Enterprise administration, reusable GitHub Actions workflows, CI/CD quality gates, and deployment standards.
• Govern HCP Terraform workspaces, module registries, and self-service infrastructure capabilities for application teams.
• Lead the application security tooling strategy, including GitHub Advanced Security and security scanning across CI/CD pipelines.
• Define DORA metrics and productivity KPIs, manage vendors, communicate investment decisions, and represent DevEx in architecture and planning forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years managing DevOps or Developer Experience teams.
• Experience owning shared tooling, CI/CD platforms, internal developer platforms, roadmaps, and adoption across multiple engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of GitHub Enterprise Cloud, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, Terraform, HCP Terraform, and AWS services including IAM, EKS, ECR, Lambda, SSM Parameter Store, and CodeArtifact.
• Understanding of Backstage or Spotify Portal, software templates, service catalogs, plugin architecture, software engineering practices, security scanning, and trunk-based development.
• Strong Agile leadership, communication, mentoring, stakeholder management, and technical roadmap skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience building Backstage plugins or custom scaffolder actions.
• Experience with InnerSource or open-source community governance.
• Familiarity with Dependabot, CodeQL, and other application security tooling lifecycles.
• Experience standardizing platforms in a distributed engineering organization of 500+ engineers.
