Animal Care Trainee (Biomedical Research)

What you will do

• Learn and perform basic animal care, husbandry, colony maintenance, room operations, sanitation, and safety procedures under direct supervision.
• Transport clean and soiled supplies through materials airlocks and maintain animal rooms in controlled facilities.
• Progress through cage transfer, breeding, aging, sexing, weaning, and cage-changing procedures.
• Complete daily welfare checks, monitor food, water, bedding, and animal wellbeing, and report health variances.
• Maintain breeding schemes, cage cards, inventory records, and related information systems.
• Prepare mice, shipping containers, and internal or external orders according to packing guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency and prior successful work experience.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and walk up a ladder.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continuous physical movement.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
