Data Center Technician 1

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; onsite data center role with a rotating schedule

What you will do

• Provide proactive customer support by phone, email, face-to-face, and internal case management systems.
• Handle trouble tickets and remote hands requests from creation through resolution.
• Assist with customer installations, testing, hardware and software support, and circuit installation for Ethernet, SONET, and dark fiber.
• Monitor and troubleshoot business-critical infrastructure, alarms, building management systems, and security systems; escalate issues when required.
• Conduct physical security walkthroughs, manage visitor sign-in procedures, and escort customers and third parties.
• Maintain chain-of-custody logs, facility cleanliness, cabling standards, inventory, task records, and timesheets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 0–4 years of experience or demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities.
• Previous NOC, SOC, IOC, or data center experience.
• Familiarity with DS1, DS3, Ethernet, dark fiber circuits, and data center infrastructure including generators, UPS, DC Plant, HVAC, and fire suppression systems.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams, monitor networks and power systems, follow procedures, assess situations, and escalate issues.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule, run cable, climb ladders, handle critical infrastructure emergencies, work independently, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Reliable transportation, dependable work habits, strong communication skills, and knowledge of Windows operating systems are required.

• Basic hardware troubleshooting experience, including replacing hard drives, memory, and motherboards.
