Hardware Technician

Location: Onsite in Lake Forest, Illinois, with occasional travel to the Elk Grove Village co-location site

Salary: $34–36 per hour, plus a $100 stipend and paid hours worked during the on-call rotation

What you will do

• Install, rack, stack, and maintain servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
• Perform cable management and structured fiber and copper cabling.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues in a data center environment.
• Manage inventory, asset tracking, shipping, receiving, and equipment documentation.
• Work in a multi-team ticketing environment and travel occasionally between data center sites.

Requirements

• Understanding of data center infrastructure, including servers, switches, firewalls, and routers.
• At least 1 year of experience with structured copper/fiber cabling and cable testing.
• Experience documenting and tracking IT assets and hardware.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs with a team lift.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience working in an enterprise environment.
• Relevant certifications.

Culture & Benefits

• Monday–Friday schedule from 10 AM to 7 PM.
• Initial training for 1–2 weeks from 8 AM to 5 PM.
• On-call rotation approximately one week per month.
• On-call work includes a $100 stipend plus payment for hours worked.
