Operational Technology Network Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Houston, TX, United States; primarily office-based with travel to remote field offices and operational sites.

What you will do

• Design, support, maintain, and continuously improve OT network infrastructure supporting SCADA, automation, telemetry, and remote operations.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, monitor performance and capacity, and support critical incidents and after-hours operational outages.
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade field communications using cellular, radio, microwave, satellite, and private network technologies.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and industrial communication devices across production facilities and field offices.
• Support acquisitions, divestitures, capital projects, facility expansions, hardware refreshes, and network lifecycle replacements.
• Implement secure OT architectures, network segmentation, firewall controls, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening with Cybersecurity.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience supporting OT networks in upstream oil and gas or other industrial environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong knowledge of industrial Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networking.
• Experience with field communications, ICS, SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, telemetry systems, and remote operational facilities.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel to remote field locations, work in potentially high-risk environments, follow safety protocols, and provide emergency or after-hours support.

Nice to have

• CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, CompTIA Network+, or similar industry certification.
