Senior Network Data Center Engineer

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; hybrid work from the Houston office and remotely. Travel may be required up to 25%. Relocation is not provided.

What you will do

• Act as a senior technical architect and trusted advisor for enterprise data center, cloud networking, routing, switching, and network modernization initiatives.
• Develop network architecture standards, reference designs, roadmaps, deployment models, diagrams, implementation guides, and operational handoff documentation.
• Lead design and architecture reviews covering data center fabrics, hybrid cloud connectivity, application delivery, DDI, segmentation, security integration, observability, and automation.
• Partner with application, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, risk, audit, operations, procurement, and vendor teams to align designs with availability, resiliency, security, compliance, and supportability requirements.
• Review network changes, guide technology adoption, and support lifecycle management, capacity planning, vendor risk reviews, audit readiness, and technology refreshes.
• Provide Level 3 escalation support for major incidents and complex network issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and architectural guidance.

Requirements

• 15+ years of enterprise network engineering, architecture, and operational support experience, including 5+ years as a senior data center network architect, design engineer, or solution architect.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in routing, switching, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, EVPN/VXLAN, segmentation, high availability, QoS, multicast, IP addressing, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, traffic engineering, performance, capacity, and resiliency.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus, Cisco ACI, Arista switching, Arista CloudVision, Juniper Apstra, software-defined data center fabrics, orchestration, and fabric lifecycle management.
• Strong cloud networking experience across Azure, AWS, and/or GCP, including hybrid connectivity, cloud routing, transit architecture, segmentation, DNS integration, private connectivity, and security controls.
• Experience with F5 LTM/GTM, Palo Alto, ZTNA, secure web gateways or cloud proxies, DDoS protection, NAC, micro-segmentation, observability tools, and network automation.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
• CCIE, Arista ACE, Juniper JNCIE, cloud networking, or equivalent advanced certifications.
