Lab IT Network Architect / Solution Designer

Location: Portugal or the United States; hybrid work. The listed site is in Amadora, Portugal.

What you will do

• Design and manage IT services for laboratories, including networks, compute resources, security services, SDN, and private clouds.
• Gather and review IT and business requirements with stakeholders and develop technical concepts and solution designs.
• Define service processes, operational procedures, standards, and performance requirements.
• Implement new deployments and changes, conduct implementation reviews, and verify design compliance.
• Document solution designs and deployment scenarios, and analyze critical incidents to identify preventive actions.
• Drive automation and optimization of laboratory IT infrastructure services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or engineering degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• 8+ years of experience in network, datacenter, or private cloud design and deployment, including 3+ years architecting and integrating datacenter network and virtualization solutions.
• Strong knowledge of switching, routing, security, Linux operating systems, and virtualization platforms such as OpenStack, VMware, OpenShift, or Proxmox.
• Deep understanding of ITIL processes and experience with large enterprise network environments.
• Experience designing and deploying datacenters.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code, automation, and orchestration experience.
• Experience with hirify.global Service Routers, hirify.global SR Linux, Fortinet, or Palo Alto firewalls.
• Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, QoS, VRRP, VxLAN, DHCP, DNS, IPsec, TLS, and IPv6 deployment.
