Lab IT Compute Architect / Solution Designer

Location: Portugal or the United States; hybrid work. The listed office location is Amadora, Portugal.

What you will do

• Own the full lifecycle of IT compute, network, and security services for laboratories, from requirements gathering through operations.
• Design and customize private and public cloud and software-defined networking services with a focus on performance, security, and flexibility.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders on requirements reviews and solution design.
• Define service processes, operational procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
• Lead deployments, implementation reviews, and acceptance activities to ensure design compliance.
• Analyze critical incidents, identify design gaps, and drive preventive actions, automation, and infrastructure optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or engineering degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• At least 5 years of experience with enterprise compute solutions, private cloud, datacenter, or network design and deployment.
• At least 3 years of experience architecting and integrating private cloud solutions or datacenter virtualization.
• Knowledge of switching, routing, security, Linux operating systems, and virtualization platforms such as OpenStack, VMware, OpenShift, or Proxmox.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and experience with large enterprise datacenter environments and datacenter design.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code, automation, orchestration, and scripting experience.
• Knowledge of hirify.global Service Routers, hirify.global SR Linux, Fortinet, or Palo Alto firewalls.
• Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, QoS, VRRP, VXLAN, and other standard network infrastructure protocols.
