Staff Software Engineer (Payments)

Location: Remote

Estimated base pay range: $175,000–$196,800 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of highly available payment processing, subscription billing, settlement, refunds, and reporting platforms.
• Lead integrations with payment processors, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
• Build and improve automated processes for software builds, testing, deployment, and delivery.
• Debug complex production issues, optimize performance, and improve reliability across money-movement flows.
• Decompose large requirements into incremental development tasks and participate in design and code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Product, Risk, Finance, and Compliance on business and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of commercial software development experience with Java, preferably delivering SaaS solutions.
• 4+ years of SQL experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL storage.
• 3+ years of experience implementing RESTful service-oriented architectures and public APIs.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
• 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and DynamoDB.
• Experience with unit testing, mocking, automation, Linux, and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Payments industry experience or experience integrating third-party payment APIs.
• Experience with Vue, AWS Lambda, containers, and Docker.
