Staff Software Engineer - Tax Credits (AI)

Location: United States; hybrid work is expected 2–3 days per week for employees based in Denver, San Francisco, or New York City, while approved remote work is available from other U.S. locations. A two-day trip to a hirify.global office is required for onboarding.

Salary: $163,000–$204,000 annually in Denver and most remote locations; $197,000–$247,000 annually in San Francisco and New York. Stock equity is additional.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test core hirify.global products.
• Develop scalable tax-credit discovery, self-service, and customer experience capabilities.
• Scale large Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React applications.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Data, Design, and Platform Engineering to identify customer pain points and launch solutions.
• Mentor engineers and lead complex, highly visible technical projects.
• Prototype, iterate, and deliver product improvements with measurable customer impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building scalable solutions that reduce customer pain and create memorable experiences.
• Experience using AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver product capabilities.
• Curiosity about emerging AI frameworks and ability to evaluate and scale AI use safely.
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects, large-scale refactors, and performance and reliability improvements.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate effectively with engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in or interest in Ruby on Rails.
• Appreciation for a collaborative, test-driven environment.
• Ability to write well-structured, maintainable, and well-documented code.
