Senior Software Engineer, Payments Platform (Fintech)

Location: San Jose, United States. Hybrid work is expected, with office attendance generally required Monday through Thursday and flexible remote work on Fridays unless the role or assigned office requires five days per week.

Salary: $186,000–$388,000 annual salary for California-based employees.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of a highly available, fault-tolerant, and performant payments and billing platform.
• Build and operate services supporting subscription, payment, order, billing, streaming, API, notification, and batch workloads.
• Design shared architectural layers and reusable libraries, including queuing, event systems, and shared memory clusters.
• Evaluate and adopt technologies across AWS and GCP while influencing cross-team architecture and product roadmaps.
• Use agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot to delegate implementation, review generated code, and deliver production-ready features.
• Drive engineering excellence through code and design reviews, CI/CD automation, platform reuse, and hands-on technical leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and operating large-scale services in subscription, payment, order, or billing domains.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic coding tools, including delegating, reviewing, and integrating AI-generated code into production.
• Expertise in subscription and payment flows such as tax, purchase, renewal, dunning, cancellation, repurchase, and invoicing.
• Strong experience designing complex transactional systems and highly available, scalable platforms.
• Strong cloud expertise with AWS or GCP required.
• Experience with automation and CI/CD pipelines, plus the ability to collaborate across Product, Engineering, QA, and Operations.
