Salary: $106,000–$153,729 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

  • Lead and coordinate a portfolio of concurrent research programs involving multiple principal investigators, timelines, and funding mechanisms.
  • Develop project plans, milestone trackers, risk registers, dashboards, and accountability processes.
  • Administer large NIH grants, including RPPRs, renewals, supplements, budgets, deliverables, and agency correspondence.
  • Write and edit grant applications, concept papers, scientific summaries, and manuscript materials.
  • Provide scientific oversight for mouse genetics, preclinical therapeutic development, genetic models, and in vivo efficacy studies.
  • Coordinate compliance, vendor and subcontract oversight, data-sharing agreements, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field; a Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or a related biomedical science field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of research-environment experience, including 2 years in program management or research administration; 6 years of preferred experience is listed.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mouse genetics, including transgenic, CRISPR-based, conditional knockout, and other genetic mouse models.
  • Direct experience administering NIH grants, preparing RPPRs and competitive renewals, and managing budgets.
  • Scientific writing experience with NIH grant applications and/or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Strong organization, communication, stakeholder coordination, and multitasking skills; ability to work with laboratory animals and comply with occupational health requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in therapeutic development, drug discovery, translational research, neuroscience, or rare and genetic diseases.
  • Familiarity with NIH eRA Commons, Grants.gov, multi-site or consortium grants, and preclinical regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GCP principles, project management software, and data visualization tools.
  • Postdoctoral research experience, an independent publication record, or an established academic and industry collaborator network.
