Research Laboratory Manager

Salary: $65,018–$108,857 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Oversee daily laboratory operations, workflows, safety plans, animal and biosafety protocols, and institutional compliance.
• Manage, train, mentor, and evaluate research assistants and technicians, including hiring, scheduling, career development, and performance management.
• Design, troubleshoot, execute, analyze, and communicate experiments supporting lab members and collaborators.
• Coordinate mouse colony requirements and experimental timelines across multiple research projects.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate new methodologies into laboratory research.
• Contribute to grant applications, manuscripts, technical reports, and collaboration management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline; an advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a research laboratory environment.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong background in mouse genetics, molecular biology, or a related field.
• Strong data analysis, organization, scientific writing, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience independently designing and evaluating experiments.
• Experience mentoring and developing research staff.
• Experience supporting grant writing and peer-reviewed publications.
