Texas Agriculture Specialist

Location: Fully remote, based in Lubbock, Texas, with frequent travel within the Texas Panhandle and occasional travel beyond the region

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Build relationships with farmers, ranchers, rural communities, regional partners, and agricultural institutions.
• Lead local implementation of mentor network models, including recruiting, onboarding, and supporting mentors.
• Help producers adopt regenerative grazing, soil health, drought resilience, and water-use efficiency practices.
• Deliver technical assistance, organize workshops, field days, learning circles, and mentor training events.
• Support soil sampling, data collection, progress tracking, producer storytelling, and program improvement.
• Connect producers with state and federal conservation programs, funding opportunities, and technical resources.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of agricultural systems in the Southern Great Plains, including grazing, cropping, and water-resource challenges.
• At least five years of relevant experience, or a related bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional experience.
• Experience delivering technical assistance, outreach, or education related to regenerative agriculture, grazing systems, or soil health.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust with farmers, ranchers, and rural communities and translate technical concepts into practical applications.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with remote teams and external partners.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the Texas Panhandle and work in outdoor field environments with variable weather, terrain, livestock, equipment, and limited connectivity.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of regenerative grazing, dryland and water-limited cropping systems, conservation planning, and drought-resilient agricultural practices.
• Experience organizing producer workshops, field days, learning circles, peer-to-peer training, or mentorship programs.
• Familiarity with USDA-NRCS programs, including EQIP and CSP, and regional agricultural networks.
• Experience developing conservation, grazing, or implementation plans with producers and partner organizations.
