Brownfields & Community Revitalization Practice: Project Scientist/Geologist/Engineer (Alaska-based)

Location: Remote, candidates must be based in Alaska; travel throughout Alaska and occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan, execute, and oversee Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation, and site-specific or area-wide reuse planning.
• Conduct fieldwork throughout Alaska, including site reconnaissance, brownfield inventories, and sampling of soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, sediment, and other media.
• Collect and interpret field data in accordance with work plans, standard operating procedures, and client requirements.
• Support remedial and construction oversight, confirmatory sampling, air monitoring, and technical documentation.
• Supervise field subconsultants and subcontractors while following hirify.global, client, and OSHA safety requirements.
• Support project management, grant administration, and preparation of grant applications and technical reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, an associated science, or equivalent education and work experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with Phase I/II ESAs, remediation, reuse planning, or area-wide planning activities.
• Experience with multi-media sampling, remedial or construction oversight, confirmatory sampling, air monitoring, and documentation.
• Basic understanding of geologic and environmental principles, with the ability to collect and synthesize field data.
• Ability to learn and use sampling, water-quality, air-monitoring, and GPS equipment; proficiency with Microsoft Office and software such as ArcGIS and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of environmental fieldwork, travel throughout Alaska, and work outside normal business hours when needed.

Nice to have

• OSHA 1910.120 training; training will be provided if needed.
