California Water Resource Specialist (Agriculture)

Location: San Joaquin, California 93660; remote work opportunities and flexible scheduling are available.

Salary: $65,000–$70,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage multiple projects supporting the San Joaquin Land and Water Strategy and track project deliverables.
• Provide technical expertise on regenerative agriculture, groundwater recharge, infiltration, soil health, and related conservation practices.
• Support farmers and ranchers through outreach, farm conservation planning, practice installation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate research with scientific, agricultural, and water-sector partners and translate findings into practical conservation implementation.
• Analyze conservation-practice and water data to measure progress and support adaptive management.
• Contribute to California water policy, stakeholder presentations, communications, funding proposals, reporting, and budget management.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of California agriculture, water-resource issues, management, and relevant stakeholders.
• Experience or willingness to learn agricultural conservation planning and implementation.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience, in water resources, agriculture, hydrology, soil science, environmental resource management, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working with farmers, ranchers, agricultural and environmental organizations, agencies, conservation districts, or related stakeholders is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Previous on-farm experience or experience in related agricultural sectors.
• Experience with environmental-outcomes quantification tools, research, conservation-practice analysis, or water-data analysis.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; additional language skills are beneficial.
