TL;DR
Jr. Systems Engineer (Digital Engineering Methodology) (Digital Engineering/MBSE): Supporting enterprise-wide digital engineering processes, model-based systems engineering methods, digital thread frameworks, and federated modeling for space defense systems with an accent on model integration, interoperability, data accessibility, and model quality. Focus on developing reusable model portfolios, implementing MBSE techniques, and connecting models, data, and information across mission partners.

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Travel is minimal and working hours are standard.

Salary: $82,000–$102,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Support experienced systems engineering staff with digital engineering processes and methods for enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Assist with Model-Based Systems Engineering processes, digital thread frameworks, model portfolios, modeling languages, ontologies, repositories, and reusable model libraries.
  • Help develop model quality, review, integration, interoperability, and acquisition processes based on digital engineering methods.
  • Support enterprise-level digital engineering approaches that connect and structure models, data, and information.
  • Assist technical teams and leadership with MBSE implementation and support federated modeling across the enterprise and mission partners.
  • Communicate modeling concepts and best practices to stakeholders at different levels.

Requirements

  • Current, active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline; no professional experience is required.
  • Foundational understanding of systems engineering and familiarity with digital engineering or MBSE.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases, ontology, UAF, or SysML.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Exposure to MBSE tools or SysML coursework.
  • Awareness of Cloud/IaC, data analytics, DevSecOps, AWS or Azure, containerization, and microservices.
  • Knowledge of satellite or space-based technologies, operations research, systems analysis, digital thread, or digital twin concepts.
