Senior Principal Digital Engineer (MBSE)

Location: Onsite in Schenectady, NY, with the role supporting locations in Albany, NY or West Mifflin, PA. No remote or telework allowed.

Salary: $128,317.13–$234,861.67 annually.

What you will do

• Create and maintain Digital Thread frameworks integrating tools, data, and models across system lifecycles.
• Design and refine Model-Based Systems Engineering processes, workflows, and implementation guidelines.
• Ensure data flow, traceability, collaboration, and decision-making across engineering domains and stakeholders.
• Lead organizational adoption of Digital Engineering and MBSE practices through training, coaching, and ongoing support.
• Provide technical leadership across system integration, sustainment, safety, acquisition, and complex engineering activities.
• Support AI/ML integration, engineering automation, and modernization of operational processes.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a technical or scientific field with at least 8 years of relevant Digital Engineering or Systems Engineering experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience.
• At least 3 years of Department of Defense or Department of Energy experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of Digital Threads and relevant engineering practices.
• Active DOE-L clearance or higher, or DoD/DoW Secret clearance or higher.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with domain subject-matter experts, managers, peers, and customers.

Nice to have

• Hands-on MBSE implementation experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or similar tools.
• Experience with SysML/UML models, requirements traceability, Digital Thread tools such as Syndeia or eQube, and configuration management.
• Python or JavaScript scripting, API integration, custom MBSE plugins, Git or SVN, databases, cloud platforms, and visualization.
• Experience implementing digital transformation frameworks, training programs, and transitions from document-based to model-based processes.
