System Engineer (Automotive Audio)

Location: Hybrid work at the hirify.global offices in Nagoya or Ariake, Tokyo, Japan; willingness to travel 10% is required.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary electrical and software engineering interface between hirify.global and automotive customers.
• Lead initial technical discussions, customer meetings, and presentations addressing engineering issues and solutions.
• Create structured problem-solving documentation using methods such as 5 Phase, Fishbone, and Is/Is Not analysis.
• Coordinate engineering changes, deliverables, milestones, and progress with Program Managers and Resident Engineers.
• Lead internal alignment meetings and coordinate engineering disciplines to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.
• Oversee projects from a technical perspective and intervene to resolve customer and internal engineering issues.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of engineering experience.
• Hardware and/or software design experience involving SoC, MCU, and DSP technologies.
• Experience with electronic communication buses such as A2B, CAN, AVB, and I2C.
• Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision and communicate effectively with customers and global internal teams.
• Ability to create structured problem-solving documents, including 8-D, 5-Phase, Fault Tree, Fishbone, and Is/Is Not analyses.
• Fluent Japanese and English communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Automotive electronics design experience or experience at an automotive Tier 1 supplier.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Audio amplifier design experience.
• Participation in or leadership of product launches.
