Senior Manager, Software Engineering Management (AI)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Base pay: $171,900–$300,800 per year, plus equity where applicable, variable compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead a full-stack engineering team building and supporting the AI Experience Framework for AI-first user interfaces.
• Manage product development across the framework roadmap and coordinate planning and delivery.
• Partner with product management, design, support, platform teams, and UX component teams.
• Guide architecture decisions for proxying, version-aware routing, server-rendered component runtimes, and framework-level APIs.
• Set technical direction for context propagation, layout composition, and state management abstractions.
• Manage staffing, mentoring, resources, cross-organization escalations, and production issues.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience with relevant technologies and advanced coding skills.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and substantial experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language.
• 5+ years of experience managing core software engineering teams.
• Advanced experience with Angular, React, Vue, or Lit, and strong knowledge of web platforms, reusable components, and componentization.
• Knowledge of server-side rendering, hydration, Node.js process and worker isolation, HTTP semantics, and reverse proxying.
• Experience managing technically complex projects, coaching engineers, and coordinating work across teams and processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with build systems producing server and code-split browser bundles from one component source.
• Experience operating Kubernetes services and maintaining Grafana and Prometheus observability tooling.
• Experience managing teams building framework-level abstractions consumed by multiple engineering teams.
